About Me

I am 27 and recently married my husband Nate. We have two crazy dogs, Cody and Olive, who are usually referred to as children. I am from Memphis, TN and my husband calls Charlottesville, VA home. We are learning to love New York for the time being, while we are living on Long Island. We hope to make a stop in Pisa, Italy before heading back to South Dakota so my husband can finish Med School. After that, the South will be calling us and we hope to answer back!

I love working with children. I love it so much that I teach two year olds everyday. Some days I question this brilliant career path, although most days the children remind why I do it.  I will be posting pictures of activities that we do. I try to facilitate the children’s learning by giving them open-ended materials and encouraging them to use their imagination. It’s more about the process than the product! Some of the activities have been posted before, but it is always different depending on the children and their moods.

I love to sew. I especially like starting projects and leaving them only to start (and not finish) my next idea! Oh geeze! I don't like to use patterns so things take much longer than necessary thus leading to my wandering habits. Just like the “process” is key for children's development it's important to share the process of sewing (and cooking, painting, crafting etc. It’s a great learning tool for everyone, even if it doesn’t come out the way it is “supposed to.” I also think it's neat to see moments during a project where two people may go in completely different directions.

I love cooking.  Yet as much as I love it, I always find it difficult to find or create recipes that are healthy(ish), affordable and fairly simple. I want to post recipes that I have made, along with my alterations. I know there will be substitutions and/or additions because heaven forbid I follow someone else's directions!! Actually, the only time I MUST follow directions is when I’m baking. I love to bake and love using all my kitchen tools to be precise and so “professional.” It’s only because I have a huge sweet tooth and can’t bear to see my efforts failed and stomach empty!!

Hopefully you will find something here that is helpful, yummy, cute… or all of the above!
